The exponential growth of big data across various domains has heightened the demand for secure, transparent, and efficient sharing mechanisms. This paper introduces BBS (Blockchain Big-Data Sharing System), a novel blockchain-based framework built on Hyperledger Fabric that ensures trusted data exchange while maintaining the chain of custody for large-scale sensitive datasets. The system supports off-state data sharing, where big data is stored externally while critical transaction records are immutably maintained on the blockchain. BBS operates through four autonomous phases—file registration, encrypted file transfer, key retrieval, and file decryption—enabling authenticated and authorized users to securely access and verify shared data. The permissioned nature of Hyperledger Fabric enhances access control and mitigates threats from dishonest participants. A functional prototype of BBS was developed and experimentally validated, confirming its effectiveness in maintaining data integrity, auditability, and performance under realistic conditions. BBS provides a scalable and secure infrastructure for big-data sharing, offering significant potential for applications in data-sensitive sectors such as healthcare, finance, and public administration.
