Abstract

The combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is transforming industrial automation, allowing intelligent decision-making, predictive maintenance, better operational efficiency, and real-time analytics. This paper investigates the revolutionary influence of AI technologies—including machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and edge intelligence—on the IIoT ecosystem. We offer a complete review of current developments, highlighting the integration of AI in smart manufacturing, supply chain optimization, and intelligent control systems. Key difficulties like as data security, interoperability, latency limits, and the necessity for large-scale annotated datasets are rigorously evaluated. Additionally, we examine new solutions and future research paths, including federated learning, explainable AI, and autonomous systems. This article intends to give researchers and industry practitioners with significant insights on the developing role of AI in IIoT, driving the development of robust, efficient, and secure intelligent industrial systems.
